FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
The latest update from Chobe Lodge on the refurbishment program shows promising signs of a ‘brand new world’.
The rebuilding of key public areas at Chobe Safari Lodge which started in May 2007, is entering the completion phase. The new restaurant concept, swimming pool and pool deck are almost complete and will be ready for utilization towards the end of October 2007.
The cocktail bar and lounge space have however suffered a delay, caused by a temporary lack of materials, notably thatching grass, on the grounds of a shortage due to the recent excessive veld fires in South Africa from where the grass has been sourced. As the grass is specially treated to ensure amongst other things fire retardation, it has not been possible to obtain the same quality grass locally.
The implication is that the project time line has been set back by 3 weeks from 31 October to 21 November 2007.
The work to be completed during the extended period is however non disruptive, being mostly thatching. ‘Sincere apologies are extended for any inconvenience that this may cause arriving visitors, however the delay has been beyond our control’ announced the Chobe Safari Lodge Management team. ‘All measures already in place to minimize the extent of any disruptions will continue into the extended time line as described above and it is advisable to inform visitors who will be arriving at Chobe Safari Lodge during this time of the extended construction period, although disruptions will be minimal’.
