IN THEIR OWN WORDS – Just back from Kenya & Tanzania – a report back from 2AFRIKA’s valued passengers
NEW YORK, NY
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Dear Ken:
“R” and I wish to thank you for the arrangements for the ‘East African Explorer’ Safari and to let you know that we enjoyed it immensely. Not only were the people very helpful and courteous and the lodges very comfortable, but the group that we were in (six of us) were very compatible and had a lot of laughs together. We saw all the animals that we wanted to see and have some remarkable photographs, one of which is with Mt. Kilimanjaro in the background.
Remember my request for arrangements to see Lesotho & Swaziland? We can make our own way to Johannesburg and you can pick us up there and take us to Durban and Pietermaritzburg. We’ll be in touch soon.
Thanks ever so much!
“A”

Hi Ken,
I'm writing to tell you just how much my husband and I enjoyed our safari to Kenya. Everything went so smoothly. It was truly better than I ever anticipated. We saw the "Big 5", never got stuck in the mud (but very close several times!), had a wonderful safari guide and were so pleased with all the accommodations. What an incredibly beautiful and interesting country. I went through my pictures last night...several very good ones. I'm most pleased.
Thanks for all you help in arranging everything. I will certainly recommend 2AFRIKA, INC. to any of our friends planning a trip to Africa.
Happy Holidays!

Hi Kenneth:
We had a wonderful trip to your country! I emailed Adel and thanked her for arranging the Soweto tour and the safari to the Pilanesberg National Park. They were both so good! The tour guides were especially good and informative.
The Kruger National Park was superb. We saw the ‘Big 4’. The leopard was shy! I took about 1000 photos!
The Protea Hotel Rosebank was fantastic with excellent service and delicious food. The Protea Hotel Kruger Gate was equally fantastic in a lovely setting. The S.A. Safari Club was in a nice setting, but the electricity went out and there were no outlets for us to use. It would have been a problem had we stayed the week. Thanks for changing us to the Protea Hotel Rosebank. My husband ventured out to the mall which was right down the block.
It was a trip of a lifetime and we loved it!
Dankie, Kenneth!

DELTA AIRLINES ANNOUNCES FLIGHT SERVICE TO NAIROBI – an information bulletin from 2AFRIKA’s Founder & President, Kenneth R. Hieber
NEW YORK, NY
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
The sales and marketing team of Delta Airlines in Kenya has announced that June 3, 2009 is the commencement date for their ‘four times a week’ flights from Atlanta via Dakar / Senegal to Nairobi. This will be the first direct flight operated by a US carrier to East Africa, since Pan Am World Airways in the ‘old days’ first operated scheduled flights, also via West Africa, before then switching their waypoint to Frankfurt/Germany.
According to a Delta spokesperson, the airline will initially operate a Boeing 767-300 on the route with 36 seats in business class and 181 seats in economy class, plus some significant cargo uplift boosting imports and exports by air.
By mid-2009 Delta said it is planning to connect to some 12 cities in 10 African countries, making it the premier North American airline for flights between the US and Africa.
Delta is a member of SkyTeam, the same alliance Kenya Airways and KLM Royal Dutch Airlines belong to, opening options of code shared flights, before Kenya Airways can upon delivery of some of their newly ordered aircraft commence additional flights from Nairobi to the US.

ROBBEN ISLAND MUSEUM TWO-WEEK MAINTENANCE CLOSURE – an informational message from 2AFRIKA’s Founder & President, Kenneth R. Hieber
NEW YORK, NY
Robben Island Museum will close for two weeks from between November 01st and 16th, 2008 to carry out essential maintenance and other improvement projects to:
1. Repair and replace tour buses
2. Refurbish vessels
3. And, manage the invasive European rabbit population.
Following an intensive consultation process initiated by the Robben Island Museum, that included the Cape of Good Hope SPCA, the State Veterinarian and Cape Nature, immediate action will be taken to avert an ecological crisis on the Island as a result of rabbit overpopulation.
While the precise number of rabbits is unknown, the current population is so large that it threatens to permanently damage the Island’s sensitive vegetation, and poses a serious threat to other fauna species, both alien and indigenous. They also threaten historical buildings and heritage sites on the Island. Unchecked, the large number of rabbits in an environment without much natural water will result in the harrowing death of many rabbits through starvation and thirst over the coming dry season.
After considering all the options available within the regulatory framework, a decision was made to implement a two-pronged approach that aims, firstly, to relieve stress on the Island’s ecosystem through a humane culling program and, secondly, to sustain a small, manageable population of rabbits through a sterilization program over the longer term. The programs will be carried out by Robben Island Museum in partnership with veterinary experts from the SPCA, the State Vet and other qualified practitioners and volunteers.
The decision to cull the animals was a very difficult one; however, there are no other alternatives available to restore ecological balance on Robben Island and to save important heritage sites from further degradation.
With 2AFRIKA, INC., you are always the first to know!

IN THEIR OWN WORDS – Just back from southern Africa
NEW YORK, NY
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Hello 2AFRIKA
I was very pleased with my trip to Botswana and South Africa in spite of a terrible allergy infection (not within your control).
All of the facilities were very good to excellent. The S.A. Safari Club is like an Oasis (excellent). Godfrey the driver is wonderful - they have a jewel in him and Chobe Safari Lodge was wonderful (excellent accommodation and great service). The Protea Hotel Kruger Gate was good (service indifferent and food not as good as Chobe Safari Lodge or The S.A. Safari Club). You could tell a huge difference in service level - Botswana much more attentive without bothering you. The Protea Hotel Kruger Gate - either not interested or not well trained. This comment goes for the hotel staff and more so the wait staff. The side trip to the Victoria Falls on the Zimbabwe side was wonderful.
One suggestion is to let people know to pack some extra clothes in their carry on for the flight from Johannesburg to the Victoria Falls since Zimbabweans ship a lot of cargo resulting in very little luggage getting loaded onto the aircraft (say 30 pieces only) no matter when you check in. For my first game drive in a life time we saw a young lion then we saw a leopard in a bare tree who came down while we were watching. We also so a young lioness go hunting for dinner one night - no luck for her. Great luck for us. The Chobe Safari Lodge Activity Center easily substituted game drives for river cruises - they were great - game viewing was so good we even chose not to go to Namibia. Game drivers in Chobe all great.
I would highly recommend not using Harold as a guide. No one that shared our game drives was impressed with him. He was dubbed the race driver of Kruger. Not that he sped - he decided he knew best and not concerned with what his customers wanted pictures of. Harold the game driver is not customer oriented. Harold at Kruger was like on a race track - you will see better - not one for staying around and seeing what might happen in the area when know "x" is in the area. He might even be a little prestigious against giraffe's and zebra's.
On our last game drive we were very lucky and saw all 5 of the ‘Big Five’ long before the end of the game drive. First we saw 3 leopards on the ground - 2 going toward the third one. Then we saw a white rhino on the road coming toward us. Later we saw one lion in the foreground with a lion, lioness and cubs in the background.
Overall I would highly recommend 2AFRIKA to anyone wanting to travel to Africa!
Thank you again for a delightful trip and a wonderful experience.

2 LAST MINUTE TIME SENSITIVE SAFARIS WORTH NOTING – A message from Kenneth Hieber at 2AFRIKA, INC.
NEW YORK, NY
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Warm African Greetings once more ‘Everyone’:
By now you know about THE GREATEST SAFARI SALE ON EARTH for we have talked much about it in the past 24-hours and the responses have been phenomenal. Everyone who has requested ‘talk-time’ will be accommodated, of that you can be sure. When we go live on Monday the 15th, you will receive email instructions from me.
Additionally, we launched THE GREATEST SAFARI SALE ON EARTH BLOG page today and our IT Department recommends that you subscribe to our RSS feed. I would hope that you do take the time to do that for this is an evolutionary series and I will be blogging frequently – you would be well served to remain informed.
NOW – THE POINT AT HAND!
I had said that I would only be selling 2009 Safaris during THE GREATEST SAFARI SALE ON EARTH – and that remains my intention. However, in preparing the final material(s), I stumbled across two Safaris with a 2008 shelf-life which when I presented them to the media, were snapped up in a heartbeat. I always believe that the members of THE ‘KH’ LIST ought to have first option on everything that we sell here at 2AFRIKA, and so, I wish to briefly introduce 2 last minute Safaris to you.

Neither Safari appears on our web site at this time. If you would like to receive more information on either or both Safaris for this October/November 2008, please do communicate with me immediately using my email address kenneth@2afrika.com. You should point which of the two you would be more interested in (or both if you are unsure), how many passengers there are in your party, when you would prefer to travel (indicating a week is perfectly fine) and which US city shown above would better suit you as a departure point from the United States. The moment I hear from you (during business hours), I will gladly provide you with the information you request.
Tomorrow, I will be blogging how you can start earning credits of up to $50.00 per person with us toward paying your own Safari. It’s simple, fun and a challenge. Who knows – perhaps you’ll earn enough credits to enjoy a free Safari. All you need to do is ‘tell your friends’. You will receive a membership number from me and any reservations which come to fruition as a result of your referrals will earn you credits! What a great way to travel absolutely free of charge. But that comes tomorrow.
In signing off today, like us, it is my hope that each of you will spend a few moments in memory of the tragedy which befell us in 2001 which changed our world forever. It is our custom to post a memorial to the fallen heroes on 9/11. Take a moment to read the lyric of a great song which was composed by a fellow South African and good friend – Ard Matthews. If you’d like to hear and purchase the song known as REDEMPTION SONG, a link will be supplied for you to be redirected to iTunes.
Have a wonderful evening, get excited and sign up to the RSS feed so that you do not miss a moment of THE GREATEST SAFARI SALE ON EARTH.
As always, I extend my warmest African wishes to you all.

WELCOME TO THE GREATEST SAFARI SALE ON EARTH – a welcome message from 2AFRIKA’s Founder & President, Kenneth R. Hieber
NEW YORK, NY
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Hello – and welcome to THE GREATEST SAFARI SALE ON EARTH. My name is Kenneth Hieber and I am the Founder & President of 13-year old 2AFRIKA, INC. located in New York City.
Starting on September 15th, 2008, I have opened lines for a Safari Sale on many of our Safaris to Kenya, Tanzania (a combination of both countries), Rwanda and Uganda (which are fantastic countries for gorilla tracks) as well as further south to Botswana and Zambia. Whilst I intend on making the sale feature applicable to all of the countries which I have mentioned (and as the sale progresses you can count on me adding a few more like Egypt and the Indian Ocean Islands – in fact pretty much anything for I believe that we are only limited by our imaginations), I would like to become instrumental in helping Kenya re-emerge back into world vision for that country desperately needs ‘support’ from a worldwide audience.
To that end, I will be featuring many Kenya Safaris which will appeal to a broad audience with very regular departures throughout 2009. Rest assured though that if Kenya is not on your ‘to-do’ list in 2009 but you have a yearning for Zambia, Botswana, the Victoria Falls or even the Indian Ocean Islands, you should keep visiting us for THE GREATEST SAFARI SALE ON EARTH is an evolutionary Safari Sale with something new and exciting happening daily.
I’ll be featuring special departures for single travelers (single travelers are surely sick and tired of paying the dreaded Single Supplement and deserve a break), passengers who want to experience more Action Adventure and Celebration Safaris for Honeymooners and those who may want to celebrate a milestone Anniversary in Africa. Let’s not forget those who may wish to renew their marriage vows in Africa. Whatever you fancy, you can rely on the fact that THE GREATEST SAFARI SALE ON EARTH will be able to accommodate you, your friends, your family or your common-interest group of travelers!
There are going to be prizes galore, competitions, passenger stories, Gift Checks, affiliate programs and much more. So if there is only one thing you do to today, sign-up to our RSS Feed to ensure yourself that you will receive each and every BLOG post as it goes up. This BLOG forum will become very interactive starting on Monday and will become your one trusted source of information on the continent that I call home – AFRICA!
In advance of THE GREATEST SAFARI SALE ON EARTH launch date, please rest assured of my very best and personal attention at all times in making your 2009 African Safari Experience a truly memorable one!

IN THEIR OWN WORDS - ‘Just back from South Africa, Botswana & Zambia’
NEW YORK, NY
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Kenneth:
I wanted to take a moment and tell you what a delightful trip we had to South Africa, Botswana and Zambia. We booked the aptly named, "Escape and Make Your Own Memories" package and it was perfect. I have travelled to Africa several times before, but never with this much ease.
It was a huge stress reducer to know that when we stepped into each airport, there was someone there to greet us and help us with the next step. The hotels were exquisite, the included meals were amazing and the quality of the activities included was overwhelming. We are telling everyone about our trip and recommending your company. Thanks so much for making this the trip of a lifetime!
I also wanted to say a special thank you to Dominik in your New York office. He worked with me and the others in the group to insure that our flights, hotels and transfers coordinated. He was very professional and knowledgeable and created a ‘once-in-a-lifetime’ experience for us.
Thanks again for an unforgettable experience!
Sincerely,
The ‘Other’ Big 5

One Small Step
NEW YORK, NY
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Do you remember where you were?
On July 21, 1969, at 02:56 UTC astronaut Neil Armstrong left the lunar landing module of the Apollo 11 mission and climbed down the ladder to the Moon's surface. Once there, he said "That's one small step for a man, one giant leap for mankind" Buzz Aldrin soon joined him and for the next two-and-a-half hours, they explored the surface, observations, taking photographs and drilling core samples. The mission marked the fulfillment of President John F. Kennedy's goal of placing a man on the moon during the decade of the 1960's.
Can you believe that we’re one year away from the 40th Anniversary?

IN THEIR OWN WORDS - ‘Just back from Botswana’
NEW YORK, NY
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
I just returned from a trip to Africa through 2AFRIKA and it was the most wonderful trip I have taken. The Chobe Safari Lodge is magnificent and exactly the same as the pictures you seen in the ads. The Safari trips were magical and we saw new animals on each trip, including Wild Dogs and Leopard. I have traveled through Europe on previous vacations but the one I will remember most was my visit to Botswana. I would like to thank all of you at 2AFRIKA for making this Safari so memorable

IN THEIR OWN WORDS - ‘Just back from Kenya’
NEW YORK, NY
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Dear Mr. Hieber,
My wife and I are back in San Diego recovering from the long plane ride, slowly I may add. She wrote to you yesterday to express our delight with your Company and our resulting pleasure. I want to add my comments:
Everyone associated with your Company was punctual, and a delight. They made our travel time through the traffic in Nairobi and the long treks across Kenya fun and informative. Over the week period we developed friendships that will be long lasting.
Tomas and Dominic are valuable to your Company, employees of their quality and dedication are hard to find. Don’t let them get away! Tomas spent his time with us in Nairobi on Monday in the afternoon guiding us to shops and advising us on “reasonable value”. Over the week we got to know Dominic, and appreciate his knowledge of the signals from the animals, when to move or when to observe, and his wit. He shared a lot of valuable information. He saw animals that we didn’t and we wondered how he did it. It is obvious that he loves his work and is good at it!
We also appreciated your concern for our safety through your checking on us as regards to the activities in Kenya.
We had a wonderful time, beyond my expectations. We thank you and if we can recommend you to other clients we will be glad to do so.
Thank you again for a wonderful visit to Kenya and the resulting safari!

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Hi Kenneth,
I cannot begin to tell you how great our trip was! It was perfect and amazing and I am not at all happy to be sitting back at my desk in L.A. I continually had to convince myself that I was actually experiencing everything and not dreaming. We all loved every minute! Your planning was perfect to the last detail and all transfers, excursions, etc. went completely smoothly. We were taken care of down to the smallest detail and we were happy with all accommodations, guides, excursions, meals and especially the beautiful and fascinating wildlife and scenery. We learned so much and met so many lovely people. Standing out in the bush, sipping wine and watching the beautiful African sunset is an experience we will never forget. I am ready to go back, many times! This was a dream trip of a lifetime and it exceeded our expectations. Thank you so very much for everything and please extend our thanks to everyone on your staff who assisted. I know that you put a great deal of time and effort into making everything just perfect and we so appreciate it. We were so happy with the way we did the trip for the 4 of us, rather than being with a large group. I think it will take me weeks to process and edit all of the incredible photos we took.
We will definitely be referring you to anyone we know who is interested in going to Africa. Our friends are very envious right now. I actually have a friend who has just started looking into trips to Egypt and I gave her your name already.
Are we now qualified to say ‘With warm African wishes’?

IN THEIR OWN WORDS - ‘Just back from Kenya’
NEW YORK, NY
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
I've been meaning to send a note on my terrific trip to Kenya in April. It was the trip of a life time at reasonable prices. There was a cancellation so I ended up being the only 2AFRIKA passenger. Despite a situation where 2AFRIKA was not going to make much money off of one person, if any, your company met or exceeded every commitment made. I had my own private guide - Norman. He was great. Very knowledgeable and a delight to be around! The coordination man in Nairobi, Thomas was also great to the extent that when Heathrow lost my luggage he saw that they were flown to my location out "in country".
The lodgings were very good and better than I expected and the food good.
Thanks for a memorable trip. 2AFRIKA is the best.

Founder & President Kenneth R. Hieber announced that several high-profile 2AFRIKA products will include Community Visits in keeping with the company’s commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility in Tourism. “It is my hope,” said Hieber at a press conference “that our passengers will imbibe this new feature and see their way fit to making on-site donations to the efforts nurtured by both the Amazing Grace Children’s Home as well as the Community Farm School.”
AMAZING GRACE CHILDREN’S HOME (Malelane, Mpumalanga)
Founded by Grace Mashaba, the Amazing Grace Children’s Home cares for AIDS orphans, abused children and human trafficking victims in a bright and cheery environment. It was registered as an NGO in 1990, and now comprises a church, dormitory, playroom, dining room and sport facilities. Foreign student social workers offer their voluntary assistance in exchange for practical experience.
COMMUNITY FARM SCHOOL (Barrydale, Western Cape)
During the 1960’s farmers in the area decided to build a school for the laborers’ children. The multi-grade school offers education to children from Grades 1 – 6, with four classrooms, two teachers (one of whom is the principal) and an administrative clerk. The school receives a “Norms and Standards” allocation from the government which subsidizes school fees, text books and general expenses.

GOING STRAIGHT IS NOT NECESSARILY THE BEST WAY TO GO - an informational message from the Original 2AFRIKA, INC. Founder & President, Kenneth R. Hieber
NEW YORK, NY
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
We simply assume that the only way to get to Southern Africa would be with the services of South African Airways or Delta Airlines!
But what if you wanted to visit another international city which really didn’t demand a long stay? Would you simply ‘write-it-off’ and never visit it or would you take a separate trip all together?
I’d hazard a guess that if you could combine your African journey with an intermediate trip to another exotic locale, you might just be inclined to do so!
Well, let’s explore the unexplored together . . . starting next week, I am going to be blogging about ‘intermediate’ points that you really ought to consider when you are Africa bound. In fact, I will be visiting one such destination this weekend. I plan to create a virtual ‘why-you-should-visit-(name will be provided upon my return)’ en-route to Africa.
So stay tuned for the ‘next generation’ of combo-travel and remember GOING STRAIGHT IS NOT NECESSARILY THE BEST WAY TO GO!

IN THEIR OWN WORDS – ‘Just back from East Africa’
NEW YORK, NY
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Dominik:
We returned from our trip "The Grand Circle" last night at 10:15 PM. To say that it was a magnificent trip would be an understatement. Your help, email answers to our innumerable questions, advice and patience are so very much appreciated. We want to let you and 2AFRIKA, INC. know that you did a superb job putting together an incredible experience that we will never ever forget. It was as close to a trip of a lifetime that we can imagine. That is not to say that there were no problems because there were blips here and there - but if you don't expect any problems you shouldn't travel. We would like to let you know what we thought of several aspects of the trip and so we have done so as succinctly as possible in the following paragraphs. I will start with the negative situations and get those over with first so you don't wonder when the complaints begin.
Corruption - We were greatly disturbed and very uncomfortable that uniformed members of airport security, police and employees asked for (I.E. demanded) "a show of appreciation" for doing what they were supposed to do which is handle passports, inspect bags, or answer questions. This happened in the Nairobi and the Zanzibar Airports. On the other hand, there were at least as many very helpful and professional employees that seemed to go out of their way to be helpful and then didn't stand there with their hand out or ask for a tip. We have traveled in many parts of the world and have not experience the level of shake downs that we did while passing through these two airports. We felt very comfortable when our guides were with us and saw numerous cases where they seemed to say something or make a gesture and the "helpful" persons bothering us seemed to disappear. This gave us a high level of comfort that we appreciated.
Well, that's all for the problems and now for the good news.
Airline travel - Worked great. No hitches. Layovers not too bad! Virgin Atlantic Airways or Kenya Airways lost one bag but got it to us the next day.
Sarova Hotels - Nairobi - Adequate. These were the level of quality that I expected. Lake Nakuru - Adequate. Nothing special! No problems with either place.
Serena Hotels - WOW!! These were great. Substantially better that we expected. Each was very unique and the locations and views were amazing. Example - Serena Mara Safari Lodge. From our room at the same time I could see: baboons, warthogs, giraffe, impalas, three hippos, and an African buffalo. The food at each was great. The service was excellent. Really impressive. These lodges added VERY substantially to our experience.
Tembo Hotel - This hotel had a good bit of character. The service was quite good. The food was good. The food prices were reasonable and we ate all our meals here because of the quality and price. Good job. The entire islands electrical service from the mainland has been disrupted and everyone that had electrical service has to use generators. The hotel turned the generators off twice a day but it did not impact us much - one of those problems you just deal with and get on with life.
Our guide, Muro, was absolutely wonderful. Because he was with us the entire time, he knew what we had seen and wanted to see. He tailored the game drives to our wants and desires. He did an outstanding job. I hope that you let him know that we appreciate his services and that he was hugely responsible for the tremendous success that we had on this trip.
Zanzibar - Their guides did a very good job. We used them for two other trips and we were very pleased. We would certainly recommend them.
Last but certainly not the least:
The parks and the animals - It is very difficult to put into words our feelings and experiences concerning what we saw and felt while in these incredible, special places that God created and man has been smart enough to set up and protect. We have dreamed of going to Africa for so many years and we were so afraid that we might be disappointed. You, your team and those two countries have put together such a special experience that we will be reliving our trip for the rest of our lives. We were overwhelmed with the beauty of the land, the sheer number of animals and the amazing diversity of the species that we saw and felt so close to that we could almost touch. I won't take the time to tell you of the many special encounters that we had but know that we have a number of exciting stories that we will be able to tell our friends and relive in our memories. We didn't get to see a leopard but we did see so many other animals that we stopped counting after 12,623 (just kidding).
Your package included six totally different parks and we would be hard pressed to pick one to leave out. Your package included about fourteen game drives and I couldn't imagine leaving one of them out. This was an amazing experience and we will never forget it and feelings that we experienced. Thank you so much for all that you and 2AFRIKA, INC. did to add to our lives with this trip of a lifetime.

Kenneth’s Answers: In response to an inquirer, 2AFRIKA's Founder & President offers sound advise: Kenya
NEW YORK, NY
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Very Good Morning to you Madam – and thank you for Contacting Us!
Based on your questions, I am going to assume that you are reviewing our safari named KENYA CLASSIC which departs every Monday, Thursday and Saturday from Nairobi (and will therefore answer your questions based on that particular Safari although the answers that I give you will be very similar for all of our East Africa Safaris).
The price of $1,399.00 + tax of $95.00 per person is valid for ALL departures between the period April 01 and April 29, 2008 and 2009. For your ease of reference, this would mean that you could choose any Monday, Thursday or Saturday to arrive into Nairobi during that period.
If it is that you are responding to us (which seems to be the case) as a result of my Newsletter dated yesterday (May 14th, 2008) announcing our Safari Sale which started today, then you immediately qualify for a 5% discount per person on the base price of the Safari. Based on $1,399.00 per person, your immediate saving is $69.95 and thus reducing the price per person to $1,329.05 + tax of $95.00. In order to qualify for that price, you will need to make your reservation anytime from today (May 15th, 2008) up till and including July 31st, 2008 and once we confirm your services you have until July 31st to pay for them. Once full and final payment has been received, no matter how the price might fluctuate, you are not affected in any way.
I would like to point out how you can save 10% per person!
Let us assume that you have decided that KENYA CLASSIC is the perfect Safari for you and your party and you reserve it today (this is merely an example). We will have a confirmation for you within 5 working days. The moment we confirm your services, you have 24-hours in which to pay for them. In doing so, your savings accumulate from $69.95 per person to $139.90 per person and thus reducing the price per person to $1,259.10 + tax of $95.00 = $1,354.10. Furthermore, I would like to point out that during the period you have indicated that you would like to travel in, there is NO Single Supplement applicable – therefore if any one person in your party will be traveling solo and requires his/her own accommodation, there are no additional penalties for that person.
The prices that I have outlined for you and valid for Certified Check/Money Order payments OR a major credit card of your choice (except Discover Card).
LET’S TALK ABOUT THE AIRFARE TO AND FROM KENYA
Your Question – ‘Where in the USA is the departure?’
I am going out on a limb here but I have noticed that your email address is an NJ address. If I am correct, then I am able to offer you service from NEWARK LIBERTY INTERNATIONAL via London into Nairobi. If there are members of your group coming from other destinations in the USA, these are the departure points that they can depart from:
- Of Course – NEWARK LIBERTY INTERNATIONAL
- NEW YORK CITY JOHN F. KENNEDY INTERNATIONAL
- BOSTON LOGAN INTERNATIONAL
- WASHINGTON DC DULLES INTERNATIONAL
- MIAMI INTERNATIONAL
- CHICAGO O’HARE INTERNATIONAL
- SAN FRANCISCO INTERNATIONAL
- LOS ANGELES INTERNATIONAL
Now, the interesting thing here is that during the period you plan to travel, one can leave from ANY of the cities I have mentioned above at the SAME PRICE! There is no add-on fare applicable for starting at any of the other destinations that I have mentioned.
In your case, your routing will be NEWARK/LONDON/NAIROBI/LONDON/NEWARK and again, during the time that you plan to travel, the round trip airfare is $1,200.00 per person + airline taxes of $396.00 per person bringing the round trip airfare to $1,596.00 per person. Again, the price is valid for Certified Check/Money Order payments OR a major credit card of your choice (excepting Discover Card).
Let’s summarize what we have so far before I continue with your questions!
Based on the assumption that you are traveling in April 2009 and that you have opted to use the instant purchase opportunity, your total price per person will be as follows:
- Scheduled round-trip air with the services of Virgin Atlantic Airways and Kenya Airways: $1,200.00 per person
- Airline Taxes: $ 396.00 per person
- 7-Day Kenya Classic Safari (with a 10% saving): $1,259.10 per person
- 7-Day Kenya Classic Safari Tax: $ 95.00 per person
- TOTAL PER PERSON SHARING (or single): $2,950.10 per person
Your Safari routing would read as follows (this is a brief summary for you to understand the bigger picture and I am preparing this as if you were traveling on the Monday April 06th departure from Nairobi . . . reading the table below will show you when you will leave from the USA and when you will arrive back into the USA)!

That is the basic flow of the arrangements that I will take care of for you, but there are a few matters that I would like to point out to you for your consideration!
- I live in New Jersey and I know that the NJ/JFK commute is not all together pleasant (particularly IF one can fly directly into Newark Liberty International). However, I want you to look at the times of the flights. Note that on the return journey you will leave from Nairobi close to midnight bound for London. Then, when you arrive into London, you have to remain in transit from 6:45AM until 4:00PM (a period of 9 hours and 15 minutes). You have given me the age range of your party and to be quite honest with you, I would prefer it if you returned into New York City’s JFK International from London. There will be no additional charge for you to do so (alter the flight routing that is) and in doing so, I can get you onto a flight from London Heathrow at 9:30AM which arrives into JFK at 12:10PM . . . the obvious upside to this is that you arrive back into the USA at 12:10PM (6 hours and 30 minutes earlier than if you return into Newark . . . and trust me when I tell you that though 6 hours and 30 minutes does not seem to be a long time, when you want to get home, it IS!) Additionally, this routing will cut your transit time in London from 9 hours and 15 minutes to 2 hours and 45 minutes . . . that is a major plus! The airlines are in pool-partnership with each other and so when you transit through London, they automatically transfer your luggage from one flight to the other for you meaning that you merely have to change terminals at the airport and you’re on your way!
- Something worth your consideration! If you or any members of your party wish to actually STOP in London in either or both directions en-route to Nairobi, you can do that with pleasure at the cost of $195.00 per person per stop. This is the airline stop fee and includes no accommodation(s).
I would like you to pay very close attention to what I am about to point out to you now! Refer back to my comments in point 1 above . . . the same applies in London en-route to Nairobi! The layover time in London on the way to Nairobi is 11-hours. Now, generally our passengers hop onto the Tube and visit the city of London during this transit period (remember that you do not need to be bothered with your luggage for the airlines take care of that for you making it simple for you to get into the city for a visit). Alternatively, others choose to purchase the service of a ‘day-room’ near the airport which cost runs to about $190.00 per person. Whichever way you look at it, there is an ‘inconvenient’ space of time en-route to East Africa which cannot be avoided. If one factors in the cost of a ‘day-room’, sightseeing tour, visit to London, additional meals etc. that I think that you will agree with what my next point is!
If we stick to the dates that I have provided above, you ought to know that there is a flight from London to Nairobi which is termed a daylight flight. It leaves from London at 10:20am and arrives into Nairobi on the same day at 8:50pm. Look at the routing below!

Now look at your transit time – it is only 1 hour and 15 minutes! Makes the world of difference doesn’t it? Arriving on April 05th will mean that you will require 1 additional nights’ accommodation in Nairobi but I’d sooner you spend the night in Nairobi as opposed to the ‘transit’ option in London. You will arrive ahead of everyone else and you will wake-up in Nairobi on the morning of April 06th feeling much more acclimated and ready for your Safari!
A nights’ accommodation in Nairobi at the hotel that we start the Safari from is $78.00 per person and includes breakfast. This is by far the better way to go!
Now, let’s assume that you DO take my advice and arrive into Nairobi in time to acclimate, you do have a full day at leisure during which time you might want to do some sightseeing in and around the city. Should this be the case, then you ought to know my following recommendations for sightseeing in Nairobi:
- Morning Sightseeing Tour to the Karen Blixen Estate and the Giraffe Center: $66.00 per person
- The Carnivore Restaurant Experience: $58.00 per person
- Nairobi National Park: $109.00 per person
- Daphne Sheldrick’s Elephant Orphanage: $116.00 per person
Now that I have set the pace for your consideration, let me proceed to answer the rest of your questions!
Kenya is a year-round destination which never disappoints. Admittedly April is the start of the rainfall season (which lasts April/May) but the rains are not monsoon rains which fall endlessly. Rather they are equatorial thunderstorms which generally occur in the late afternoon bringing relief from the heat of the day. The vegetation is lush and green and there is an abundance of wildlife in which ever direction you look. Traveling on Safari that time of year never disappoints anyone AND the one matter to factor in is that since the guide books talk of the rainy season a lot, travelers are dissuaded from traveling at that time meaning that you pretty much have the ‘place’ to yourself without the hoards of visitors that come in the summer time! That in itself is a major plus factor!
In Kenya, the primary focus is all-about-you. That said, your local English-speaking Driver/Guide will take care of your every requirement from handling your luggage to helping you into the Safari vehicles. That in itself reduces many levels of strain. You have pointed out that your party is made up of people in their 60’s, some with knee and/or back problems – let me comfort you by telling you that the more you tell us about each individual, the better we can place you. By this I mean that if you wish to be allocated rooms closer to the Reception areas of the Safari Lodges to avoid long walks to your accommodations, we will gladly attend to that to maximize your comfort. I honestly do believe that this Safari is very doable for your party for since there are 10 of you, realistically, you will occupy 2 Safari vehicles. That said, you really call the shots! If you want to stop for a restroom break, your Driver/Guide will gladly factor that into the day’s activities. If you are a little too tired and want to shorten one of the Safari Game Viewing Drives, that too will be done. Quite honestly, whatever makes you more comfortable, your Driver/Guide will do!
I will not lead you to believe that the road conditions in Kenya are immaculate – they are not. And particularly the route from Nairobi to the Maasai Mara National Park! It is a bumpy ride for the best part of 5-hours. The pay off however is magnificent. From the Maasai Mara National Park to Lake Nakuru National Park you can anticipate a 5-hour drive on somewhat better roads (the 5-hours will include frequent stops en-route) and then from Lake Nakuru National Park to Nairobi and on to Amboseli National Park, another 5-hours whilst the last leg of the Safari from Amboseli National Park back to Nairobi is only about 3-hours on a good road! Be prepared for a little bumping around and perhaps an Advil or two – but more strenuous than that it rarely becomes. I have no issues with the members of your party with knee problems for other that stepping into the Safari Vehicles (and out), there is no additional strain that they ought to be aware of.
Indeed it is possible – but not from a practical point of view. To maximize on your inexpensive airfare, we like to keep you on the services of one common carrier (and it’s pool-partner). This means that if you wish to visit Cape Town, you will need to travel from Nairobi to Johannesburg with a continuing service to Cape Town. On the return journey, you would need to do the same . . . and quite honestly, I think that traveling the following routing is not at all comfortable . . . Cape Town/Johannesburg/Nairobi/London/Newark or JFK! By the time that you get back, you would rather be dead . . . and I would prefer you to arrive refreshed and rejuvenated after a magnificent Safari.
If you have a wanderlust and would like to end your already wonderful Safari on a ‘high-note’, I would highly recommend a side-trip to the nearby tropical spice island of Zanzibar. A 3-Day/2-Night extension to Zanzibar during the time you plan to travel would cost $549.00 per person + tax of $95.00. This price would include:
- Scheduled round trip air routed Nairobi/Zanzibar/Nairobi
- Round trip transfers routed airport/hotel/airport in Zanzibar
- 2-Night’s accommodation in rooms with private en-suite bathroom facilities
- Breakfast daily
- A Half Day Walking Tour of Stone Town
- A Half Day Afternoon ‘Spice Island” Tour
Honestly, I find that ‘money-better-spent’ and recommend such a diversion very highly.
I have a no-obligation service whereby I invite yourself and the members of your party to partake in a Telephone Conference with me at a time convenient to yourselves. I know that being the middle (wo)man sometimes can be a little arduous and so rather than having everyone fire questions that you are unfamiliar with answering at you, I am more than happy to offer you and your party this service so that at all times, everyone in the party is appropriately informed and that everyone has the same information at the same time. This way, the other members can also pose their questions relative to matters of importance to them. If you need me for this service, I would be more than pleased to allocate the time.

Kenneth’s Answers: In response to an inquirer, 2AFRIKA's Founder & President offers sound advise: Egypt
NEW YORK, NY
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
We are thinking we would like to see Abu Simbel as long as we are there. Our feeling is that we might as well see everythign we can. Not sure about Dendara and Abydos. Are they truly worth the additional $120?
Truthfully Madam, I would not be happy if you did not see Abu Simbel . . . it is a 100% MUST! Additionally (and I am NOT a Sound & Light fan) you HAVE TO take in the Sound & Light Show at the Temple of Karnak! The other two, delete and erase immediately! They are not worth the effort and frankly, by the time you are done with the cruise and marveled at the spectacle of Abu Simbel, you will be ‘templed out’ for every pales in comparison to Abu Simbel and the majestic antiquities in Luxor. I absolutely agree that you drop the idea of Dendara and Abydos but in the same tone, I insist that you see these which I have recommended. Egypt is a masterpiece unquestionably but like I say when one takes a safari . . . there will come a time when you have had ‘enough’ and one more antiquity, you’ll wish that they could mummify you!
Saving the best for last with Petra in your itinerary is also an incredible highlight and I would honestly say that adding Abu Simbel and the Sound & Light Show is Karnak will absolutely enhance your journey and leave you fulfilled – and not have you feel that you have missed out on anything.
