SABI SABI WELCOMES FOUR NEW TRAINEE GUIDES

THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 25, 2010
NEW YORK, NY
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Over the past 30 years, Sabi Sabi has become recognized as a leader in the field of ranger/guide training, with aspiring game rangers clamoring for a chance to take part in the demanding courses. The selection process is intensive for those hoping to qualify and ultimately become one of the reserve’s renowned guides.

The first step is the initial interview, where potential candidates are rigorously assessed by the senior safari managers. Sabi Sabi is known the world over for the exceptional caliber of its safari team, and only the very best make it past this first interview. Besides testing their safari knowledge, the managers make sure that the would-be guides are empathic, perceptive, and insightful, and carry that special brand of warmth that is synonymous with everyone who calls Sabi Sabi home.Once past this first step, the top six to eight candidates are invited to join the highly intensive course which takes place at Nkombe Camp, a tented facility situated in a remote section of the Sabi Sabi bushveld. The curriculum is comprehensive. Conservation and the principles of ecology, wild animal behavior and safety procedures in a Big 5 environment, bird identification, the identification and uses of the indigenous plants and trees, and of course, conducting day, night and walking safaris, all form part of the training course. Trainees are also taught the etiquette of interacting with guests from many different cultures around the world. By the time they graduate as qualified rangers, they will have become environmental educators, spreading the message of conservation nationally and internationally.

On the last day of the course, final interviews are conducted, and a select panel of senior managers and staff decides who will fit the profile of a Sabi Sabi field guide.

To ensure that you have a pleasant and uninterrupted travel experience on South African Airways, we wanted to remind you of the special passport and visa requirements for persons entering South Africa. All non-South African passport holders are required to have at least one, entirely blank (unstamped) visa page in their passport, each time entry is sought into South Africa. INTRODUCTION TO THE ZAMBEZI QUEEN

TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 16, 2010
NEW YORK, NY
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

There can be few natural wonders as synonymous with Africa’s raw wilderness as the great Chobe River. These waters divide Namibia’s Caprivi Strip from Botswana’s Chobe National Park, and its exotic banks boast one of the densest populations of wildlife on the African continent.

Teeming with life, this National Park sprawls across lush African bush, and is home to the largest populace of elephants in the world – currently estimated at roughly 120,000. Along with the elephants, prides of leopard and lion, huge groups of buffalo, waterbuck, roan, eland, sable, giraffe, and, if you are lucky, one of the rare puku, can also be seen. In the river itself watch out for hippo and crocodile, and keep your binoculars at the ready for spotting a rich selection of bird life.

It is on this great expanse of untamed water an adventure unlike any other awaits. Why join he crowds on land-based game drives when you can experience the thrill of it all from your own private suite aboard a luxury boat? The Zambezi Queen operates in 5-star opulence, and is all about pampering, indulgence, and superior comfort.

Whether you are dining on our third level restaurant watching the animals gather at the water at dusk, game viewing from one of our private boats, or attempting to land your first tiger fish, our professional team will be on hand to meet your every need.

ZAMBEZI QUEEN - LUXURY ON THE CHOBE

WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 10, 2010
NEW YORK, NY
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The Zambezi Queen takes Safari Luxury to a higher level! View Kenneth R. Hieber's televised interview with the Zambezi Queen owner Tony Stern.

Recently a guest of Hieber's on 'Another Country Through My Eyes', a televised studio recording from 2AFRIKA's studio in New York City, Tony Stern spoke in depth about the Zambezi Queen.

Currently in post production, Hieber's televised interview with Tony Stern can soon be enjoyed at your leisure by visiting 'Another Country Through My Eyes'.

Richard Alleman of VOGUE reported -

On the other side of the globe, the brand-new riverboat Zambezi Queen is proving that luxury and responsible tourism are not mutually exclusive. Fitted with solar-water heaters, a water-purification system, and and jet propulsion as opposed to conventional propeller engines (to protect river life), the Queen quietly plies a game-rich stretch of the Chobe River between Botswana and Namibia, known for its large elephant population. Onboard the sleek three-level vessel, public areas as well as fourteen cabins sport a cool minimalist look created by South African designer Jenni Button. Another South African name, Capetown chef Pete Goff-Wood, is in charge of the Queen’s cuisine. In addition to onboard game spotting, travelers take off into the bush on guided 4X4 excursions and also have the option of flying up to Victoria Falls, which is just 50 miles to the east. An ideal add-on to a land safari in Southern Africa, the Zambezi Queen currently offers two- and three-night itineraries that start at $800 per night per person, sharing a double cabin, including meals and South African wines
