Zanzibar health officials clarify yellow fever policy

Revised guidelines have been implemented as follows:

After their initial blanket announcement that all visitors arriving to Zanzibar would be required to present a valid yellow fever vaccination certificate, the island's Minister of Health has issued the following clarifications:

1.         All guests/visitors arriving from Non Endemic Yellow Fever zone(s) will not be required to show the Yellow Fever vaccination certificate on their arrival to Tanzania.

2.         All guests/visitors whom on their way to Tanzania have passed through endemic Yellow Fever zone(s) BUT they didn't leave out of that country's airport they will be treated like those in (1) above.

3.         All guests/visitors whom on their way to Tanzania have passed through endemic Yellow Fever zone(s) and exit that country's airport, will be required to show their Yellow Fever vaccination certificate on their arrival to Tanzania otherwise they will be required to receive vaccination at the entry point on their arrival to Tanzania (Yellow Fever vaccination fee is US $ 50)

4.         All guests from the endemic Yellow Fever zone(s) will be treated as those in (3) above

5.         All guests/visitors from Tanzania mainland to Zanzibar will not be required to show their Yellow Fever vaccination certificate as Zanzibar is inside the United Republic of Tanzania

6.         In the event that a guest/visitor is forced to pay a Yellow Fever vaccination fee at the entry point without being vaccinated, he/she is advised to note the time when the incidence occurred and immediately report it to our ground crew who meets you once you have cleared the arrivals hall
